You can call us on our Customer service hotline or email us on creditcards@hsbc.com.lk or you may write to us on P.O. Box 73 Colombo, with your application reference number or National Identity Card (NIC) Number.

What is the interest free period for a HSBC Credit Card?

The interest free period for your HSBC credit card is from 21 days up to 51 days. 

How long will it take to process my HSBC credit card application?

  • HSBC Premier credit cards : Primary card - 1 bank working day1 / Supplementary card - 1 bank working day1
  • HSBC Advance credit cards : Primary card - 3 bank working days1 / Supplementary card - 2 bank working days1
  • HSBC Visa Signature credit cards : Primary card - 2 bank working days / Supplementary card - 2 bank working days1

Will I receive a PIN?

If you wish to obtain a pin, a request should be made at the time applying for a credit card.

Can I change my PIN?

Yes. You can change your PIN via any HSBC ATM, at any given time.

Primary Annual Fee: 

  • HSBC Rewards - LKR6,000
  • HSBC Platinum - LKR4,250
  • (Cashback) - LKR4,000
  • HSBC Gold - LKR2,750

How many additional cards can I add to my existing HSBC credit card?

You can add up to 3 additional cards, provided they are your immediate family members.

What is the Card Verification Value (CVV) number?

CVV or Card Verification Value is the three digit number available on the reverse side of your credit card.

Servicing Information

Where can I access my HSBC credit card Statements?

Your monthly statement will be delivered to you via the channel chosen by you. However, should you wish to view your statement, you can log in to Personal Internet Banking and request for same or request for same via any HSBC ATM or Call us on the number provided at the back of your credit card and request for same.

What should I do if I have lost my HSBC credit card?

Report the loss of your credit card immediately to the Bank. 3 easy steps to report:

  • Dial our Customer Service hotline +94 11 4 4722 00
  • Press 1 - for English
  • Press * (Star) - to report a lost card

What should I do if I suspect there has been fraudulent activity on my credit card?

You need to call our 24hr call centre number provided on the reverse of your credit card and inform us of the suspected transaction on your credit card.

How do I set up a direct debit to pay my credit card account?

You can visit any of our branches and open a demand deposit account. Thereafter you can submit a request to set up a direct debit for your account via the Branch or via Personal Internet Banking service.

What do I do if my HSBC credit card is damaged?

Please call our 24 call centre on the number provided at the reverse of your credit card between 7.00am - 9.00pm and request for a replacement credit card.

Will I automatically receive a new HSBC credit card if my existing credit card is about to expire?

Yes. You will receive a new credit card 30 days prior to the expiry of your existing credit card.

How can I increase or decrease my credit limit?

Please e-mail below documents to creditcards@hsbc.com.lk via your official e-mail address which contains your company domain name confirming your current designation and card number attention to Underwriting Services

- Certified copies of your last three months’ salary slips

- The salary credited account statements

              or

Please call our 24 call center on the number provided on the reverse of your credit card and submit a request for same.

Can I use my HSBC credit card overseas?

Yes. You can use your HSBC Credit Card overseas by informing the bank to update the travel details.

Can I use my HSBC credit card at any ATM to withdraw cash?

Yes. You can use your HSBC credit card at any ATM which is on the Visa network to withdraw cash.

What is the maximum amount I can withdraw from an ATM?

  • HSBC Premier - LKR 200,000/-
  • HSBC Advance Platinum - LKR 150,000/-
  • HSBC Visa Signature - LKR 200,000/-
  • HSBC Visa Platinum - LKR 150,000/-
  • HSBS Visa Gold - LKR 100,000/-

How can I close my HSBC credit card account?

A written request can be handed over to our branches or posted to us (P.O Box 73,Colombo). You can also submit a request via personal internet banking or by calling our hotline number which is mentioned on the back of your credit card.

Things to note

  • Please be informed that any transactions and/or bank charges (including interest, stamp duty) already borne by you but not billed to your credit card account as at date, will be immediately payable no sooner it is debited to your credit card account. You will receive a statement for the relevant period and we would appreciate if arrangements are made to settle the outstanding as indicated in your statement.
  • Any existing credit card settlement instructions (Standing Instructions) will be terminated with the closure of the card account.
  • If you have nominated the closed credit card for any standing instruction payments to third parties, may we advise you to cancel these instructions immediately, in your own interest.
  • For security reasons please destroy the credit card by cutting it into four.

How do I change my personal details?

How do I make an HSBC credit card insurance claim?

Eligible customer need to contact the insurance company direct for any claims.
